A Pure Contour Formulation for the Meshless Local Boundary Integral Equation Method in Thermoelasticity
A new meshless method for solving stationary thermoelastic boundary value problems is proposed in the present paper. The moving least square (MLS) method is used for the approximation of physical quantities in the local boundary integral equations (LBIE). In stationary thermoelasticity, the temperature and displacement fields are uncoupled. In the first step, the temperature field, described by...
متن کاملThermoelasticity and generalized thermoelasticity viewed as wave hierarchies
It is seen how to write the standard form of the four partial differential equations in four unknowns of anisotropic thermoelasticity as a single equation in one variable, in terms of isothermal and isentropic wave operators. This equation, of diffusive type, is of the eighth order in the space derivatives and seventh order in the time derivatives and so is parabolic in character. After having ...
متن کاملThe Finite Cell Method for linear thermoelasticity
The recently introduced Finite Cell Method (FCM) combines the fictitious domain idea with the benefits of high-order Finite Elements. While previous publications concentrated on single-field applications, this paper demonstrates that the advantages of the method carry over to the multi-physical context of linear thermoelasticity. The ability of the method to converge with exponential rates is i...
متن کاملSpatial stability in linear thermoelasticity
Uniqueness and spatial stability are investigated for smooth solutions to boundary value problems in non-classical linearised and linear thermoelasticity subject to certain conditions on material coefficients. Uniqueness is derived for standard boundary conditions on bounded regions using a generalisation of Kirchhoff’s method. Spatial stability is discussed for the semi-infinite prismatic cyli...
متن کاملExponential Decay in Nonsimple Thermoelasticity of Type Iii
This paper deals with the model proposed for nonsimple materials with heat conduction of type III. We analyze first the general system of equations, determine the behavior of its solutions with respect to the time and show that the semigroup associated with the system is not analytic. Two limiting cases of the model are studied later.
